Cross-border trucking without guessing at the border
A truck must not cross until its eManifest is on file: ACE with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) going south, ACI with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) going north. Drivers usually find out by calling dispatch. SarathiLink shows it on the driver's phone.
What the driver sees
- A border strip on the home screen, only for loads that cross: red (not filed, do not cross), amber (with the office or customs) or green (accepted).
- Simple checkmarks: uploaded, checked, in progress with CBP or CBSA, accepted.
- The port of entry: Ambassador Bridge, Gordie Howe Bridge, Blue Water Bridge, Peace Bridge, Lewiston–Queenston, Thousand Islands, Lacolle–Champlain, Pacific Highway, Coutts–Sweetgrass, Emerson–Pembina and the rest. Drivers can choose the crossing when the company allows it.
- The eManifest trip number, PAPS (into the USA) and PARS (into Canada) numbers.
- The driver's copy PDF to show the officer, delivered automatically.
- Customs notes such as "Released at the border", "Trip held" or "Arrival reported to CBSA", with an alert to the phone.
Filled in from your BorderConnect account
Carriers who file ACE and ACI eManifests in BorderConnect link their account once on SarathiLink's Connections page. From then on, CBP and CBSA answers move the driver's checkmarks by themselves every few minutes: acknowledgements, acceptances, rejections with the reason, releases and holds. Rejections and holds also ring the office. The accepted driver's copy arrives by email at the company's private SarathiLink address and is attached to the right load.
Two-way trips and exemptions
- Round trips get both: ACE going into the USA and ACI coming back into Canada.
- Dispatch can mark a cross-border load as no border clearance needed (for example when a broker handles it), with the reason recorded.
- Loads that stay in one country never show a border strip.
